Pu Hiro’a Tumu Collective
Our organization was founded by a group of Pacific Islanders who made the PNW our new home, carrying with us the traditions, values, and cultural identity of our islands.
After arriving, we quickly realized that opportunities to experience and share our culture were limited. We felt a deep longing not just for home, but for connection, for community, and for a space where our heritage could be celebrated and passed on to future generations.
Rather than let that connection fade, we came together to create something meaningful. What began as a shared yearning grew into a collective effort to preserve, uplift, and share our Pacific Islander culture and other cultures here in Washington.
Today, our nonprofit exists to keep our culture alive through community gatherings, cultural education, and the celebration of our traditions so that our people, and those around us, can experience the richness and strength of our heritage.
Our name Pu Hiro'a Tumu Collective meaning, Cultural Center. That is rooted in culture guided by tradition collectivally as one.
Who We Are
Pu Hiro’a Tumu Collective’s mission is to promote, preserve, support, share, and advance cultural, artistic, and heritage based practices through educational programs, workshops, cultural events, exhibitions, and related activities.
We envisions a thriving, interconnected community where cultural knowledge, artistic expression, and ancestral traditions are actively practiced, celebrated, and passed forward across generations.
